Cataract and Refractive Surgery

Refractive surgery has undergone an explosive evolution during the last decades. With the introduction of excimer laser and phakic intraocular lenses, refractive surgery has been lead to its maturity both scientifically and clinically. Intrastromal femtosecond laser assisted corneal excision has been mentioned as the most important innovation recently. The use of refractive surgery has also been envisioned to lead to improvements in the handicapped eyes. Refractive surgery procedure has technologically developed to improve the quality of life by increasing the quality of vision and is reaching a high level from which we could expect further improvements.

This article collection highlights recent progress in cataract and refractive surgery. It aims to publish articles which will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand cataract and refractive surgery and the most updated topics on the cutting edge at this moment in this field.
