Recollections, reflections, and revelations: personal experiences in ethnobiology

For nearly a century ethnobiologists have collaborated with local communities to document and safeguard the planet’s rich biocultural heritage. By its nature, ethnobiology combines human experience with the scientific method, but the personal experiences and stories that are essential to its success are often hidden by the literature.

This series of editorials aims to reveal the personal side of ethnobiological research, sharing the earliest field experiences of a diverse group of researchers with the hope of opening these rarely-shared experiences up to an international audience.
